Painting rocks for Earth Day
Today we went on a rock walk and my daughter found her "perfect rock" to paint the Earth. She took so much pride in washing it so it was clean and ready to paint she was so sweet as if she was taking care of a small baby. Then we painted it with blue and green for the earth with tempera paint. I think she did pretty good what do you think?

Soup can crayon holders
My daughter had a pencil case that was overflowing with crayons, markers, and color pencils. So I decided to reuse some soup cans ( the ones that have the pile off lid so that she doesn't cut her finger on a jagged edge) to put her drawing supplies in she has 3 cans so she can sort them in the right place and it looks a lot cleaner on the desk. I want to add cute paper and decorate them some time.

My little gardener:)
Because it is earth day this week and H got some gardening tools and seeds for her birthday we decided to plant flowers. She loved helping and is so proud of her seeds. We are learning the different stages of a seed and how it grows and changes. She is so mindful of the seeds and wants to check on them often it is a good thing cause I would forget lol

Bird feeder from milk jug
In honor of earth day this week we reused a milk carton to make a bird feeder. I cut windows and a door out of the carton with a box cutter or razor and gave it a light coat of spray paint. Then I had H glue nature sequins on the jug to decorate it.
We hung it in the tree in the back yard. Excuse the yard color we just sprayed for weeds.
H looked at it and it was blowing in the wind and she asked me how the birds would hang on. So we had to come up with a better plan
so we tied it up on both sides and now it can't go anywhere. this made H feel much better about the birds eating the food.

Post office pretend play
I go to the post office a lot mailing orders for my tutu business and my daughter is fascinated with it. She always ask lots of questions and thought it would be fun to play that at home. So I set up a post office for her with a cash register, stamps, envelopes, a Mail box and lots to draw with. I also put her address, a list of family and friends names and common post office words on the wall.I also set up a couple more stations throughout the down stairs for her to deliver the mail, using her bike and a large reusable tote bag to carry the mail. she loved it and delivers things to daddy and her stuff animals and babies. I got the idea for the mail box here.
To make the MAIL box I used and old cereal box and cut a hole in it then spray painted it black cause I didn't have blue and cut out the letters and glued it on. another way to reuse

Homemade musical shakers
I made these for H when she was about 6 months old and thought I would share it with everyone. The hospital suggested these bottles and I didn't care for them but they were $5 a bottle so I made them into shakers for my daughter (hot glue the tops closed). Now that she is two I see her using as play food in her kitchen more than music but she still dances with them too.

Making crayons
Today I got tired of all the broken crayon all over the place so me and H peeled all the papers off the crayons and broke them in to pieces. Then we sprayed a molded pan with cooking spray and she decided what crayons she wanted in each hole and filled the tin. I baked it at 170 degrees for 30 minutes. We talked about how they felt before and what she thought would happen to the crayon in the oven. After we put them in the oven we checked them every so
often to see if the crayons where changing and why do you think they change. (it took about half the time for you to really see them start to change just to let you know.) when they are done we let them cool for about 10 minutes and then took them out. to use.

unique ways to send mail.
I have been showing H how to recycle around the house and turn thing from old to new. My husband is going to visit his nephews soon and we wanted to surprise them to let them know he is coming. I got an empty water bottle and cut a hole in it 3 sides of a rectangle to make a flap. Then filled it with little toys: bouncy balls, stickers, sticky hands, ect. My husband wrote a note to the boys and I filled it with curling string to sorta hide the things inside to make it a mystery. After you finish filling the bottle put the mailing label on top of the hole and tape all the way around the bottle. write on bottle to remove address label to get into bottle. What little one would not like to get a surprise like this in the mail.
I filled the bottle with a lot more curly ribbon than in the picture

Homemade wrapping paper
I had a gift to wrap and was out of wrapping paper, so we made our own. I took a brown paper bag from the grocery store and let her paint it to match the gift. It was like no other paper at the party and the little boy loved it.

I spy bottle
I created this bottle filled with rice and stuff I found around the house:buttons, beads, hair clips, feathers, an earplug, pom poms, googly eyes,a straw cut in to pieces, etc. She loves to shake it and look for her favorite things in the bottle. Which is a lady bug button and a star. Every time you shake it you find something new. Note! hot glue the lid on the bottle so they can't open it.
